I had been trying to restart the Lanterns again and failing miserably. I came back and I found out Jenny was cheating on me. So I left my apartment to her, left Radu's.

I went to the League, but they had John now. So they were fine.

[ kyle had returned to the watchtower for a bit. sat in his empty room. stared at the walls. time passed. ]

Then Major Force came for my mom.

( he says the name john like it should mean something to bruce. )

Do you think we're fine here without you?

Why wouldn't you be?

Because there's only one of you.

[torchbearer]

[ he sighs. ]

Bruce, none of you wanted me here in the first place. Not you, not the League, not the Lanterns.

I was the guy stuck with a ring that no one cared for.

[batsymbol]

( slight tilt of his head, he leans forward some, hand pressed flat on the table. )

I want you here.

[torchbearer]

[ he feels the echoes of that. you are our lantern. we trust you with our lives. ]

Because you were there for me when I found myself here. When I didn't want anyone around me.

[ the answer comes easily. kyle doesn't even need to think about it. ]

I guess that makes me sound like a hypocrite. But you're . . . grounded. I haven't been in ages.

Does your art help with that?

Sometimes, yeah. I used to run a comic in the newspaper some time ago. Nothing big though.

I got called away for a bit. Trying to help the Lanterns get re-established.
